About Liam

I trained at Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts, graduating with a First Class BA (Hons) in Acting in 2017.

I am a professional actor with experience across stage and screen, working with both classical and contemporary text; from Shakespeare to modern television and film.

Alongside acting, I’ve spent the last five years coaching actors, professionals, and creatives in acting technique, voice, elocution, presence, and performance psychology.

What most people misunderstand about actor training is this:
it’s not about pretending; it’s about mastering your mind and body to tell the truth without faking.

Voice, body, attention, imagination, emotion, and intention are all trainable systems.
Once you understand how they work together, performance becomes repeatable, grounded, and reliable, even under pressure.

That is the foundation of everything I teach.

THE ACTOR'S PROCESS:

Whether you want to:
- Train as an actor
- Prepare for drama school or auditions
- Develop confidence, presence, and range
- Or build performance skills that transfer into speaking, leadership, and life
You’ll be trained using the same principles taught at elite drama schools, adapted to you.

This work follows The Actor’s Process; a structured system that develops:
- Physical and vocal control
- Truthful, naturalistic performance
- Emotional availability without self-indulgence
- Clarity under observation
- And the ability to choose how you show up

Rather than “acting harder,” we remove interference: tension, overthinking, and self-consciousness so performance can emerge cleanly.

WHAT WE WORK ON:

Acting Technique
- Character development from text (contemporary & classical)
- Stanislavski’s system and naturalism
- Uta Hagen’s questions and substitutions
- Meisner-based listening and responsiveness
- Improvisation for freedom, play, and presence
- Scene work for stage and screen

Voice & Physical Mastery
- Breath, articulation, projection, and resonance
- RP elocution and accent work where appropriate
- Releasing physical and vocal tension
- Alexander Technique principles for efficiency and ease

Text & Performance
- Shakespeare: verse, prose, metre, rhetoric, and meaning
- How language drives action
- Differences between stage and screen performance
- Precision without stiffness

The Actor’s Toolkit (Professional)
- Audition preparation
- Self-tapes
- CV, headshots, and showreels
- Market awareness and casting realities
- Guidance on agents and next steps

  • When did you start practicing? How did this passion find you?

My brother and I would watch movies over and over and do impressions of the characters. I enjoyed doing theatre at school so I went to drama school in London at Italia Conti for the 3 year BA in Acting. In-between acting jobs I wanted to do something other than tending a bar so I started teaching. Now I still do impressions but it's to help people change their voice.
  • Which artists or works affect you the most?

Jim Carrey movies were usually top of my brother and I's list of favourites. All the big names like Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Marlon Brando. Ian Mckellen made me fall in love with Shakespeare which was a whole new challenge to my speaking skills.

I also really like science, philosophy and psychology. Einstein, Stoic philosophy, Carl Jung aswell as modern practitioners. Alan Watts would be at my dinner table of top 5 guests along with Jesus, Muhammed Ali, Marcus Aurelius and Jim Carrey.
  • What are the qualities and skills required to succeed in this area?

Practice all the time. Practice with intensity and laser like focus then the rest of the time you speak to anybody try to focus on one area of your voice eg: speak a little slower, or a little louder, or try to nail the ah "bath" vowel.

You will only continue to do this however if it is something you truly and strongly desire to change in your life. In the words of Miyamoto Musashi "It may seem difficult at first but everything is difficult at first."
  • What is the most valuable advice you can give to help someone stay focused on creative projects?

Don't lock yourself into one idea, one story, one concept. When things feel stale, change them. I like Stephen King's analogy of killing your darlings.
  • How would you describe your passion; how does it make you feel?

When we are born we have no filter. We feel and express ourselves however we want to without giving it a second thought. People always say they miss the freedom of their childhood. When we grow up we learn to hide parts of ourselves that would endanger us. When I perform, whether it be acting or public speaking, I feel that freedom again.
  • What creative achievements are you particularly proud of?

I've written and filmed the first few episodes of a children's story in the form of a poem. I've got another two parts written and working on the rest.
  • Have you ever been surprised by a student; by their ability or quick progression?

Often. Sometimes we get through several lessons and we've tried a number of exercises and then do something as simple as changing where he holds his hands when he speaks and it creates a drastic transformation in the way he comes across. Or a student with a strong accent says something in a perfect RP accent and they seem like a different person.
  • Being a Superprof is an art! What is your secret?

Listen to the students. Sometimes you feel you know exactly what they need to do. But if they can't connect with what you're telling them or they are resistant then maybe it's not right for them. Occasionally letting them lead may not seem like the best thing for them in the long term but if before you know it you can happen on something they're really benefiting from and then growth comes a lot quicker.
