My teaching method is positive reinforcement on self-learning, I assist via prompting questions and encouraging independent learning by giving the tools and then catering the approach to the student, some students will very independently jump to an answer when given the materials, others need to be shown and others know answers but struggle with their methodology.
I am a recent graduate with an MA in English Literary Studies and a BA in Ancient History and English. I undertook Creative Writing as part of my degree and can also offer guidance, editing and proofreading. I am willing to teach anyone with a genuine desire to learn and cater to GCSE level and above. However, I am also open to other enquiries on a case by case basis.
My method is based on rigorous language learning, vocabulary and appreciation of the Classics. The set-text element of the examinations is a particular favourite and my method has never failed (?) to enthrall and excite. Unseen work is also very enjoyable.
I provide a service to a wide range of students; from primary through to A-Level standard, teaching in a fair environment where the student is involved in various ways - presentation giving, reading as a group or game-playing.
My teaching method is to read/focus on any texts/aspects of English a student may be having issues with and give feedback on how they may improve. Having studied English for four years at a higher level I understand the demands of the subject and what teachers are looking for at every level of education.
I have studied classical civilisation since GCSE, through A level and up until now (I am studying it at the university of Bristol). I am passionate about the subject and really feel that I can make the subject interesting as well as fun. I did the AQA exam board through school, however am happy to research other boards if needs be.
I am currently employed as both university lecturer for teacher training and a secondary school teacher. My role as university lecturer means I am responsible for assessing and training prospective history teachers. For 23 years I was Head of Department for History, Psychology and Classics, and to ensure my teaching remains up to date I still teach Years 7-13.
My teaching method is very tailored to the needs of the individual. I assess what the student wants/needs to work on and plan my lessons accordingly.
I am primarily a medieval historian, and I aspire to encourage others to think outside of the box. Latin is my main subject simply because my own experience as an historian has taught me that knowledge of Latin is a necessary tool for anyone wishing to study the past.
