The 5-6-7-8 count acts as a musical cue, giving dancers time to prepare their bodies before movement starts.

• Most popular music follows a 4/4 time signature, meaning four beats per bar.
• An 8-count phrase covers two bars of music and helps structure movement sequences.
• The preparatory count ensures the whole group enters on time.

This convention keeps classes and performances perfectly synchronised.

Dance classes in Cheltenham typically cost £34/h per session.

This price can vary depending on several factors:

• The student's level (newcomer through to experienced dancer)
• The teacher's experience and qualifications (industry certifications and teaching experience)
• The duration and regularity of your sessions
• How you take classes (virtual sessions, home visits or studio-based tuition)

Many teachers offer discounted packages for booking multiple sessions, which lowers your cost per hour.

Ballroom basics such as waltz and foxtrot suit those who prefer structured partner work.

• Salsa and bachata use repetitive patterns and let you dance socially within weeks.
• These styles encourage personal expression and adapt well to any fitness level.
• These styles progress more slowly but reward patience with exceptional body awareness.

A good teacher matters more than the style, so choose classes with supportive instruction.
