The 32-beat rule is a fundamental concept based on how dance music is organised into phrases.

Think of a phrase as a chunk of music that has a beginning, middle, and natural end.

• In 4/4 time, 32 beats equals 8 bars, which is the most common phrase length.
• Major changes like drops, breakdowns, and new elements usually happen every 32 beats.
• Phrase-aligned transitions feel smooth because both tracks change together.

This skill transforms random mixing into structured, danceable sets.

Private DJ tuition in Falmouth averages £17/h per session.

Prices differ based on the tutor and lesson format.

• Your current skill level, from complete beginner to advanced mixing techniques
• The tutor's experience, qualifications, and professional background
• Whether you book single lessons or commit to a regular course
• Your preference for remote learning or hands-on in-person sessions

Some teachers provide package deals that bring down the price per session. Online lessons can be more affordable while still delivering quality instruction. A first trial lesson is often free or discounted so you can assess the fit.

Generally, the venue is responsible for music licensing, not the individual DJ.

A PRS licence allows a venue to play copyrighted music legally in public.

• Venues like nightclubs, pubs, and hotels typically have their own PRS licence in place.
• Mobile DJs playing at unlicensed venues may need to arrange their own PRS licence.
• Online performances have their own rules separate from live venue performances.

When in doubt, ask the venue to show proof of their PRS or PPL licence.
