Find a French Tutor Near Me in Swansea

The subjunctive is widely considered the trickiest tense in French. It signals that something is subjective, not a straightforward reality.

• Trigger phrases — Words such as "pour que", "avant que", and "à moins que" signal its use.
• Irregular stems — High-frequency verbs have unique subjunctive forms you must memorise.
• Practice tip — Start with fixed expressions and learn them as chunks.

Regular practice with real sentences helps this tense feel less intimidating over time.

The average price for a French lesson in Swansea is around £18/h.

This rate depends on several factors:

• The student's level (GCSE, A-Level, or conversational)
• The tutor's experience and qualifications (years of experience, exam specialisms)
• Lesson length and frequency (weekly, intensive, or occasional)
• How tuition is delivered (video call, face-to-face, or hybrid)

Some teachers provide package deals that lower the hourly cost over time. Quite a few tutors give a free first lesson so you can check the fit before committing.

The 80/20 rule suggests that roughly 20% of French vocabulary accounts for 80% of everyday speech.

The idea is simple—spend time on what matters most for practical fluency.

• Core vocabulary — Mastering 2,000 high-frequency words lets you understand most conversations.
• Grammar priorities — Focus on the tenses you will actually use before studying rare literary forms.
• Real-world exposure — Listening to native content reinforces the vocabulary you need most.

Smart prioritisation helps you communicate sooner, which keeps motivation high.
