Without a doubt, Belfast has made a name for herself in cultural circles. It is where Game of Thrones and City of Ember were filmed. It's seen visits by internationally renowned music acts, from The Beatles to AC/DC. Béal Fierste has many tribute songs dedicated to her from musical acts such as Elton John, James Taylor and Spandau Ballet and many, many more. And, of course, the Boney M anthem Belfast, which topped music charts all over the world.
And we have Gary Moore, whose Belfast tribute was made all the more poignant for his being a native son.
These days, many aspiring and established guitarists, Northern Irish or from other corners of the world, hail his musical genius as the standard to aim for. If you, too, would love nothing better than for your fingers to fly over your fretboard, you're likely looking for guitar lessons.
You've come to the right place!
Northern Ireland's rich cultural heritage aside, there are lots of reasons to take guitar lessons in Belfast.
For one, Belfast boasts a bustling club scene. Not just the genteel clubs that tourists frequent or the pubs your Da might go to; our city is famous for our underground club scene. It began in the early '80s and continues today. While these clubs do not invite live bands/musicians to play, they relish featuring unknown performers' music. Anything from punk and electronica to thrash and death metal gets a fair shot... if the DJ deems it good.
As a budding guitarist looking to make your mark on the world of music, you could hardly find a more eclectic and appreciative audience, especially if club music is your preferred genre.
At the other end of the spectrum, we find the Ulster Orchestra, Belfast's (and Northern Ireland's) only full-time symphonic orchestra. Unsurprisingly, they're known all over the UK, only in part because of their packed calendar: they give concerts across Northern Ireland and Ireland, and that's when they're not playing festivals or in their domicile halls, Ulster Hall or Waterfront Hall.
Whatever your favourite genre - or even if you're not yet certain what type of guitar music you'd like to make, taking guitar lessons is the first step towards achieving your goal.
As you live in Belfast, you probably knew all about your city's artistic, cultural vibe before reading the foregoing paragraphs. Still, it doesn't hurt to refine your ideas about your hometown; doing so helps you refine your goals and turn them into achievable accomplishments.
The good news is that you don't need to decide straight away what genre your guitar playing will pigeonhole in. If you've never so much as strummed a guitar, beginner lessons are where you need to start. You'll then have about a year to decide what style of guitar music you'd like to play.
The patient teachers at Your Guitar Academy Belfast excel at recognising student talent and cultivating it. Besides teaching you chords, progressions and techniques, they will help you explore various types of guitar music so you can decide for yourself what type of guitarist you want to be.
Once you have the basics down pat, you might switch to guitar lessons at the Belfast Music Academy. Their intermediate guitar lessons are arranged by genre: classical, metal, rock guitar; funk and blues and... they even have a course for Jimmy Hendrix guitar playing!
These and other guitar academies are great but what if you wanted a more personal approach?
Institutional learning of any type has its merits but when it comes to creative learning, you can't beat the private tutor's one-on-one attention. Such specialized attention is the Superprof trademark, especially when it comes to learning the guitar.
Your Superprof guitar tutor would leave it to you whether the lessons will take place at your home or theirs; you can even take guitar lessons online. And however fast you master concepts, that's how fast your lessons go.
Your Superprof guitar tutor isn't interested in prolonging your lessons for their profit; they want to see you get good, fast, at the lowest price.
