Have been playing both electric and acoustic guitar for 10 years, in a variety of styles. Can provide help with both solo and group performance. Will focus on teaching core skills needed to be a well-rounded, versatile guitarist, such as understanding of key, scales and improvisation. Happy to focus on lead guitar, rhythm, or classical acoustic as the student desires.
Being able to make a lesson as practical yet weaving in theoretical practices is essential, that is the aim! Whether your goal is to play the opening riff to your favourite tune, my goal is to show you HOW the music works together
My teaching method is catered to each individual student. After outlining goals we will work toward achieving results in an effective and most importantly enjoyable manner. A mixture of theory and techniques will result in swift progression for the student.
Each week you will learn a new skill, be given exercises to practise and taught how to play your favourite songs. Depending on the difficulty of the song, you can choose which songs you learn. Lesson times are flexible and home visits are available.
Teachings vary depending on the clients skill level but assuming a complete beginners standard I would tend to take them through the most important chords at first befor moving on to some of the more advanced stuff like scales, barchords, fingerpicking etc..
I adopt a relaxed consultative teaching style adapting to the needs and learning style of the student. Since there are many ages and abilities it is important to be flexible in approach and methodology.
Building rapour with my students and encourage them at every point. Setting small tasks and eventually putting them together in a timely manner.
Using scales to utilise keys and frameworks and phases which can be used anywhere.
I am a student at Belfast Bible College, and I give lessons to all ages and abilities. I feel that a good lesson should be built on some level of friendship, so I will meet before lesson one to discuss what you would like to learn. I'm quite an unorthodox teacher, but that is my biggest strength.
My teaching method is mainly based on the caged system for guitar the cool system for bass and the beta the life out of it for the drums. :) all in time and in the correct place of coarse.
When I'm teaching someone I try to make it as easy and enjoyable as possible, I approach it with experiences I had with previous guitar teachers of mine taking examples of how they taught me.
