Learning guitar begins with three pillars: how to hold the instrument, how to tune it, and how to form basic chords.

• Tuning means adjusting each string to the correct pitch, usually E-A-D-G-B-E from low to high.
• Mastering open chords gives you a solid foundation for rhythm playing.
• Start with simple downstrokes before mixing in upstrokes for more complex grooves.

Once you can switch between a few chords smoothly, try playing along to a simple song you enjoy.

Private guitar tuition in Colsterworth usually runs at £30/h on average.

This rate can vary depending on several factors:

• Your current ability (complete novice through to experienced player)
• The teacher's credentials and background (conservatoire training, gigging history)
• How long and how often you book (30 minutes, 60 minutes, weekly or fortnightly)
• How you take your lessons (online, in-person at home, or at the tutor's studio)

Online lessons tend to be cheaper since neither party travels. A first session at no charge is common, letting you test the teaching style.

In guitar terms, 80/20 means prioritising the techniques and chords you'll actually use most.

• Core chords like G, C, D, E, and A appear in the majority of popular songs.
• Many famous riffs use just five notes from this versatile scale.
• Solid strumming makes you valuable in a band, even without advanced solos.

By focusing on high-value skills first, you sound musical faster and avoid wasted hours.
