Tailor-made lessons. I rely on a variety of teaching methods which take into account the specific needs of my students, their learning styles and interests.
My teaching method is based on a communicative approach. So my classes are either entirely in Italian or English with reference to the native language of the student/students only in case of particular difficulties.
I am open to giving lessons to all ages. I will tailor lessons to your needs, so I will need to know your level of Italian and what your goals are. If your goal is to simply practice talking, as you are of an intermediate to advanced level, I am also able to create conversation-stimulating sessions.
My teaching approch is very much on encouraging you to use your language skills in life conversation. I believe that focusing on verbal communication skills quickly builds your confidence and your enjoyment of the new language. I am familiar with the use of IT and I strongly believe in its effectiveness in languages.
I want people that I am teaching to be very interactive and show me real interest, I will make the lessons personalised based on a first assessment of the individual or group and combining bits that can be boring with fun activities.
My teaching methods depend on the student I teach. I like to plan my work before I start teaching, so that productive work can be done by myself and the student.
I have experience in tutoring high school students, so I usually have a detailed yet relaxed approach to any topic. With Italian being my native language, I will be able to give a full-on perspective on costruction, grammar and idiomatic expressions. I have a five year background in studying Spanish, as well as a language certification.
Ciao, my name is Silvia and I am from Napoli. I have been teaching and tutoring to American and English people for the last 13 years; first in US and here in Leeds. I have experience of teaching and tailoring lessons to students of all ages and all levels. Since I started in US, I have been teaching to kids through songs and games and I have used the "scenario" technique for more advanced students.
I usually plan my lessons as part of courses of 5, 10 or 20 meetings of one hour each (up to two hours, according to the needs). I detail two typologies below, but I am quite flexible - in fact, I do believe firmly that lessons should be always tailored around each specific student. I try to provide all explanations in Italian, and I use a lot of paraphrases.
My teaching method of the language is strongly grammatically oriented, which helps to understand the structure of the language itself and gives tools to decrypt languages in general, along with literature and art suggestions to embrace the culture as well as the language.
For beginners: I start with basics of grammar and to catch student's curiosity a learning some simple phrase. I try to speak Italian every lesson to help students to familiarise with word's sound.
My teaching method applies online conversations as well as PDF exercises provided and a little test to test your communication skills progresses provided so often
I am giving one-to-one tailor made lessons, so that you can work on your areas of concern. A standard lesson includes: grammar content, activities to improve your writing skills, reading comprehension, vocabulary and conversation. I usually make use of different multimedia tools (videos, songs, journals etc.

I focuse on conversation, sentence structure, listening and comprehension, reading and comprehension and writting! Conversation is the most important part of a language when you travel. It is very important my students to be able to learn conversation in my lessons then when they go to Italy they can speak to native speakers.
