I base my lessons around what the student/s would like to go over (can be something they struggle with or something they just want to practise or something that they'd like to go beyond their current level in). I can plan lessons but am very adaptable in different situations.
I first ask my student what their weaker topics are and explain these. We go through example questions, gradually making them do more of the work to understand and remember the process. We’ll repeat these topics at later sessions to recap.
My teaching approach involves asking students how much they know about their topic first so I know what to cover and what not to cover, thus saving time and spending more time on struggling topics. I also tell students to read their book and explain to me what they learnt which also tells me what to fully cover.
