About Nick

Does your maths or statistics homework keep ruining your weekends? Yes; well lets change that!

Hi, I’m Nick, a PhD candidate and a specialist Maths and Statistics tutor. I’ve been teaching and tutoring for four years, and I throughly enjoy supporting students across Key Stage 3 and GCSE who want to feel more confident, less stressed, and better equipped to succeed in Maths.

Many of the students I work with have felt overwhelmed by the subject or unsure of their abilities. With the right approach, progress is always possible and it often happens faster than expected.

I have a calm, structured teaching style and a strong track record of helping students build confidence, improve exam performance, and even begin to enjoy Maths again.

Why Choose Me?:

There are lots of maths tutors on this site, with a large number of them will have similar backgrounds. What makes tutoring with me unique is my slightly different specialism. I focused my maths knowledge into sport and human movement, as a PhD researcher in Sports Science. This gives me a unique ability to work well with students who are interested in sport, exercise and health as I can give practical, engaging examples related to the real world, especially when the inevitable “When will I ever use this?” question comes up.

So if you are a student interested in sport, we would be great fit!

Subjects I Offer:
GCSE Maths, Physics and Statistics (Years 10–11) •
• Full curriculum coverage
• Foundation and Higher tier support

Key Stage 3 Maths and Physics (Years 7–9)
• Building strong numeracy and problem-solving skills
• Filling gaps and building readiness for GCSE Adult Learners

My lessons are 1 hour long, structured, and tailored to each individual student’s needs. Sessions are delivered online using interactive whiteboards, exam-board-specific materials, and real-time feedback to keep students engaged and progressing.

What you can expect:

• Clear learning objectives set at the start of each lesson
• A short recap of previous content to consolidate understanding
• New material taught using examples, step-by-step walkthroughs, and guided questions
• Space for practice, problem-solving, and confidence-building
• Homework or additional exercises available on request

How I track progress:

• I use a self-assessment tool to identify gaps and strengths
• This tool also helps track visible progress over time — shared with both parents and students
• Lessons adapt weekly based on performance and learning needs

Who I teach:

• Students in Years 7 to 11 (Key Stage 3 and GCSE)
• Foundation and Higher tier students
• Adult learners working towards qualifications or improving confidence
• Students who enjoy sport or want real-world relevance in their learning

Whether you or your child is struggling with confidence, exam pressure, or just wants to get ahead, I’d love to help you/them see maths differently.
