My teaching approach involves asking students how much they know about their topic first so I know what to cover and what not to cover, thus saving time and spending more time on struggling topics. I also tell students to read their book and explain to me what they learnt which also tells me what to fully cover.
I see each complex section in science and mathematics as a composition of relatively simple questions whose solutions often involve the application of rudimentary mathematical and scientific axioms. As such, I seek to impress upon my students the importance of decomposing problems by rewriting the questions posed in a generally longer but more comprehensible form.
I base my teaching depending on each student's learning needs so I do not have a fixed teaching methodology. However, whichever way, in the end, I apply more for demonstration, examples, tests, exam among others. Most importantly, I make sure I cement a very good relationship with my students and then take it from there thereby ensuring they get the best out of the tutoring relationship we have.
I base my lectures on examples...I always try to cover all areas on each topic...I provide a better understanding on how to approach maths questions...provide easier ways of attacking maths questions...Very comprehensive and effective means of teaching...As I was taught also...
I am a qualified teacher and have an MA in Leadership. I focus on the individual I am working with and ensure any gaps in mathematical knowledge are identified. Starters will include questions involving key calculator and non calculator skills.
Undergraduate student seeking to tutor GCSE'S and AS level maths aswell as adults studying access course to HE maths. My teaching is based on your level of understanding so therefore I try to explain the part of maths that you may find challenging i.e. algebra , equations , factors , graphs expression and formulae and trigonometry. These is through many examples and past exam like questions .
I will base my lessons on the student, learning how they like to learn and then basing the lesson plan for them.
I am a positive, patient and organised individual, committed to improving students’ confidence in their own abilities and encouraging an active interest in their learning, specifically in maths and science subjects. This is because I believe the key to success in any subject is through understanding, making it easier to digest and most importantly, to enjoy the subject.
I want to help those students struggling in GCSE or A-Level Maths because I understand the frustration of not understanding a method or the seemingly complicated process of finding an answer. I will build up your abilities from more simple questions and progress onto the harder ones where you'll begin to recognise the similarities of those 'difficult' questions to the earlier, easier ones.
In my lessons I will be working alongside you to ensure you get up to a strong understanding of whatever topic it may be. The way I cover topics involves first of all gauging your base level of knowledge and adapting the lesson accordingly, whether that requires teaching from first principles to pushing the boundaries of your understanding.
Practise is the best way to learn maths so when teaching it, I begin by explaining a new concept to the student, then going through a few problems with them, then letting them go through some problems alone to highlight any problems so I can then explain and fix the problem.
I tend to vary my teaching method depending on the needs and learning style of the student. I like to teach by a direct approach, encouraging the use of past papers to perfect exam technique and practice. I also tailor my teaching to follow the exact syllabus taught to the student, to ensure their exact learning needs are met.
I like to explain the topic first give a few examples and then give students a chance and then explain what they did right and where they need to improve. I also like to show the specification so students know what exactly what they will be tested on in their exam.
My teaching method is systematic, in the respect that both you and I will set goals to achieve and I will create lesson plans to ensure they are completed efficiency and effectively. My lessons are not only a time for specialised learning, but I will incorporate games and fun to ensure the retention of attention and the willingness to learn more.

I'm a Mathematics student at the University of Leeds, currently on track for a 1st and in my 3rd year. I'm from Wakefield and so am able to continue with lessons based in West Yorkshire (or anywhere in Britain via Skype) when away from University.
My method of teaching is based on what the tutee is struggling with the most and then when they feel confident with that I will then move on to everything else that needs covering within the national curriculum just to help them achieve the best overall grade they can.
I am a researcher with over 10 years experience teaching mathematics at the Universities of Cambridge and Leeds. I tutor maths at A-level and university level. I prefer a relaxed friendly style rather then strict coaching. - Which subject(s) do you teach? My experience tutoring to classes of students in impoverished areas has reinforced my ability to form conceptual understanding of topics to a wide variety of people.
I am calm and patient, with a knack for explaining mathematical concepts. I tailor lessons to individual and group needs and pupils have always commented on my ability to pitch lessons at exactly the right level. I am available evenings throughout the week.
My methods of teaching include lecturing, demonstrations, collaboration and debriefing. My lessons are fun and interesting and I am great at breaking things down in a way that helps retain the information. I will teach good exam preparation and techniques.
My teaching method is to work through example questions with the student then allow a chance for the individual to attempt a question alone.
I believe in an all-round teaching method based on individual needs. I prefer to give a solid foundation needed for the course before moving on to difficult concepts. Since I am an aerospace engineer, I can help students doing mechanical engineering, aero engineering, aviation course and chemical engineering. I can also teach basic mathematics to all levels.
As I am a current student I know exactly how a student would like to be helped when a topic seems difficult. My method of teaching would be explaining the content using diagrams and flow charts etc, using text books to help you make notes, doing a lot of questions from text books and past papers.
I base my teaching on understanding the basics, because I believe if you have a strong foundation, you can attempt any question.
I approach each pupil dependant upon their needs, build on concepts that they are familiar with and use methods that are best for each student. For example some pupils might prefer visual aids whereas others may prefer descriptive examples. Everyone is unique and everyone learns their own way, I will attempt to find what that is and nurture it to the best of their ability.
To be a great tutor, I believe you must have patience and respectful tone. It is essential to make sure the student doesn't feel belittled and to try to see where the problem lies in the understanding. I have always been good at Math from my GSEC honours and College degree and even in College my lecturer tried to persuade me into continuing the subject but I couldn't, because of my career path.
