"The only way to do great work is to love what you do." -Steve Jobs
Do you have an earnest passion for waking up every morning and getting to work? Do you love what you do? As is the case with so many individuals around the United Kingdom, work is a means to an end and a way to make ends meet. Most would agree that there is no passion in most employment position today. But can that change? Can we genuinely find work that we love?
For those who are passionate about food, a healthy lifestyle, and frequent exercise, there is one career that is tailormade for them. Working as a nutritionist. In recent years, nutritionists have become sought after individuals due to the health & wellness industry becoming worth trillions of US dollars and young people's desire to look good at all times. Also, working as a nutritionist is quite varied and rarely are the same tasks repeated day after day; sounds pretty sweet! Some of the most frequent careers accepted by nutrition experts with a health & wellness certificate include nutrition and wellness consultant. A nutrition coach. A food or supplement salesperson. A writer for a diet or health magazine. A weight-loss expert at a clinic. A health food store manager, or a nutrition instructor that offers private classes. Truthfully, the sky is the limit for those who wish to dedicate a career as a nutritionist!
"The food you eat can be the safest form of medicine or the slowest form of poison." -Anne Wigmore
Those who decide to study nutrition love food, a healthy lifestyle, and regular exercise and have a desire to impart their wisdom with others. But, how long does it take to become a registered nutritionist or dietitian? When studying nutrition, it is essential to recognise that there are various levels of study. Let's consider the following levels of education that nutrition enthusiasts can complete.
For those who only want to acquire a basic knowledge of some concepts of nutrition, a beginners course may be all that is required. There are various courses offered online and in-person that last approximately 2-3 months and cover basic teachings of nutrition that can be used at home and for family use. The information taught at beginner nutrition courses is not for education or advising others but rather to grasp the concepts and be able to make adjustments to your diet. The relationship between food and your overall health.
While rules may differ from territory to territory, simple nutrition advisory courses to help answer people's most basic nutrition needs may take up to a year of studying with a qualified tutor or at an institution. During these classes, aspiring nutritionists gain knowledge of bulk ingredients, macro and micro minerals and vitamins, and how to use food to solve fundamental health issues. After completing instructional courses for over a year, graduates are capable of providing general advice about diets, exercise, and food items to help people stay in good health to try and prevent the odds of acquiring terrifying diseases. It is essential to state that after completing advice courses, you are not a registered nutritionist who is qualified to work with supplements and severe cases but instead viewed as an advisor that suggests.
Courses of nutritional therapy last a lot longer, between two and three years to be exact, and focus on more in-depth nutrition topics such as anatomy and physiology. Also, nutritional therapists in training take a more hands-on approach in clinical studies and gain an extensive knowledge of casework by studying alongside already qualified dietary therapists. At most institutions teaching nutritional therapy, both in-person and online classes are conducted, and students learn how to suggest and implement supplements to help a person with their nutrition needs. In some cases of nutritional therapy courses, there is a naturopathy section that provides a more in-depth study of how natural substances can be used to improve the health of clients. An essential aspect of completing a course in nutritional therapy is that you can be insured with an accrediting body to be protected.
Notice how we didn't include the word "dietitian" once in the three previous descriptions of nutrition courses? Well, the reason we didn't use the phrase dietitian is that to be recognised as a dietitian, the highest level of nutrition-based training is required. Nutritional Dietitians and Practitioners courses are very in-depth and need between three and four years of study to reach completion. High levels of medical science, chemistry, and biology are observed and examined. Nutritional Dietitians courses must be study in-person at a university since it is scarce to find online lessons touching on these problematic topics of nutrition. Those who study high levels of this course can work for major health organisations such as the NHS in the UK and look to the future with confidence since they are eligible to study nutrition at a higher education centre to acquire a Masters degree or PhD.
For those who want to receive remedial help or extra information in nutrition, the best option is via online lessons with a reputable tutoring website. But, which one is the best?
