Find a Turkish tutor near me in Glasgow

Several elements of Turkish differ from English, which can feel unfamiliar at first but become intuitive over time.

• Vowel harmony — Suffixes change their vowels to harmonise with the main word, creating a melodic flow.
• Agglutination — One Turkish word can carry tense, negation, and person markers all at once.
• Word order — Sentences often conclude with the verb, which takes adjustment for English speakers.
• No grammatical gender — Turkish has no masculine or feminine forms, which actually simplifies learning compared to French or German.

Working with a teacher helps you internalise these features through targeted practice and real conversation.

A private Turkish tutor in Glasgow charges approximately £22/h on average.

This rate varies depending on several factors:

• The learner's level (A1 through to C2)
• The teacher's background and credentials (native speaker, certified instructor, university degree)
• How often you study and session duration (30-minute, 60-minute, or 90-minute lessons)
• The format of lessons (webcam sessions, face-to-face, or hybrid arrangements)

Booking a package of lessons often reduces the hourly cost significantly.

Starting with essential greetings and polite words builds confidence quickly.

• Merhaba — a friendly, all-purpose way to say hello to anyone.
• Teşekkür ederim — a formal way to say thanks, literally meaning "I give thanks."
• Evet / Hayır — simple but vital words you'll use constantly in conversation.
• Lütfen — "please," added to requests to sound polite.
• Nasılsınız? — a courteous way to ask about someone's wellbeing.

A Turkish tutor can help you pronounce these correctly and use them naturally in context.
