I've found that the most effective method of teaching is to immediately follow up any learning with practice, e.g. exercises or an activity, as this tends to cement the lesson in a students brain. This is how I planned many of my lessons in France.
I base my English lessons on my own experiences with my English exams and I focus on making the content of my lessons fit the mark scheme of the examination board. Also as English can be quite subjective I like to make sure the student is analysing and writing about things which they enjoy so that they are maximising the amount of marks they gain.
I have taught primary school children, undergraduates, adult learners and PGCE students. I have a first class degree in English and a M.A in English. I am familiar with the full GCSE English curriculum in both language and literature and also in AS and A level.
I believe in that the best way to motivate a student is to highlight and encourage their strengths, while challenging them to improve their capabilities. The key to all learning is practice. I can give you the tools, to make practicing an enjoyable pastime.
I am very patient and understanding person. Happy to teach anyone from going to very basic or no English at all to a level good enough to be able to understand and maintain any English conversation.
I love to have a variety of teaching methods to make each class fun, unique and interesting all while you're learning! My teaching methodologies include that I will related the class to your life, games, give you choices and it will all be interactive! you will NOT be bored and always have fun while learning.
I am a trilingual speaker of English, Turkish and Greek with teaching skills in all three languages. I am looking forward to teaching my students from all backgrounds and all ages/motivational needs. Please do not hesitate to share any concerns or needs with me.
I am a very patient and methodical tutor, being multilingual helps me communicate and explain specific rules of a language and improve verbal and written communication skills. Starting with most basic words, that are international and incorporating them into correct sentences, followed by more complicated situations and problem solving. I am a happy person and like to keep all lessons positive.
My teaching method is student-centered and I am friendly, patient and approachable. Communication is first valued over fluency. I always use content that my students are interested in and our life experience during lessons. I enjoy grammar, vocabulary, conversation practice, business English, exam preparation and teaching students of all ages and all levels.
I aim to support learners who want to build on their existing learning experience. Learners should have an idea of what they want to get out of the session. This may mean discussing: homework, an article they have been reading, or something they are trying to write or express.
I try to find an area which students enjoy and bring that into my teaching, so as it is more fun and not such a chore, without the students noticing. I prefer to focus on an area which the student may find difficult and to build their confidence in that area with a variety of methods.
My teaching method is personable and creative, based on establishing a rapport with students that facilitates effective language-learning in a relaxed atmosphere. I use a number of different resources and lesson plans, selected from my experience teaching here and abroad.
