About Elena
I am an 18 year old sixth form student who has just completed my A levels in Biology, Chemistry and Psychology. I am very passionate about my subjects because they have very real life applications to developing science. I believe that studying the subjects I have has allowed me to gain a range of essential skills such as critical thinking, curiosity and perseverance. My aim when teaching these subjects is not only to allow the student to achieve the grades they deserve but to also attain these skills that have benefited me in many aspects of my life.

Personally, I aim to identify the areas of a subject that the student struggles with the most and tackle these first. I would firstly talk through the content and encourage the student to ask questions when they are unsure or do not understand. Once the student assures me that they are confident with this area, I will ask them questions to ensure their understanding is solidified. From my own experience, I know the importance of being able to apply my understanding as opposed to being able to simply learn the content which doesn’t favour an exam setting. To tackle this, I will then set exam questions for the student to complete before our next session. We will then go through their answers together and make sure any mistakes are corrected as I have found this is the key to success. I encourage my students to contact me at any time to ask me questions about anything they are unsure of.
