About Lewis
- What kind of experience do you have?
I currently teach in 2 secondary schools as a woodwind teacher. I also have previously done work experience in a school music department working as a classroom assistant and running workshops. During my time at Trinity, I did workshops in primary schools in the SE area and also lead workshops at Southampton University with local sixth formers and University students.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes and am on the live scheme
- Where and with whom did you train?
While attending junior conservatoire courses at Birmingham I studied saxophone with Mike Williams and also studied with Percy Pursglove. And at Trinity Laban I have studied under Martin Speake, Mic Foster, Jean Touassiant, Julian Siegel, Simon Purcell and Gareth Lockrane.

I'm a highly experienced performer and player but also an experienced and passionate educator. I want to pass on my knowledge in a fun and enjoyable way!
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach Saxophone, flute and clarinet all classical and jazz. Also teaching jazz drum kit and teaching for theory exams. I can also teach jazz theory, harmony and improvisation.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a BMus Hons in jazz performance from Trinity Laban Conservatoire music and dance.
I have 3 A Levels in Music, Maths and Politics.
- How much do you charge?
£30 per hour.

I can teach at home and can travel to yours. Depending on how far away you are, I may charge travel. Please get in contact for a quote.
