About Maya

As a licensed English teacher with a Master’s in Education and years of classroom experience, I bring both expertise and empathy to every tutoring session. I’ve taught in diverse, multilingual classrooms across Boston, working with English Language Learners, special education students, and general education students in grades 5–12. My teaching style is patient, structured, and personalized. I take time to understand each student’s needs, goals, and learning style, and I design lessons that build skills step by step—whether in reading comprehension, academic writing, grammar, or conversational English. I’m fluent in Spanish and Polish, which helps me connect with multilingual students and support their learning in a welcoming and inclusive way. I take pride in creating a safe, encouraging space where students feel confident to grow. With me, you’ll not only improve your English—you’ll feel supported every step of the way.

About the lesson

My Tutoring Approach & What I Offer As a licensed English teacher with classroom experience in SEI and inclusive settings, my tutoring approach is student-centered, culturally responsive, and adaptable. I begin by getting to know each student’s goals, language background, and learning style to create a personalized plan. Teaching Methods & Techniques I use a blend of direct instruction, guided practice, and real-world application. Lessons often incorporate visual aids, discussion prompts, writing exercises, and interactive tools to build engagement and confidence. I support learners in developing not just accuracy, but also fluency and critical thinking. Typical Lesson Plan Warm-up: Conversation or review of a past concept Skill Focus: Grammar, reading, writing, or speaking activity tailored to the student’s goals Practice: Guided exercises or discussion Wrap-Up: Feedback, next steps, and optional homework or resources What Sets Me Apart I bring a strong foundation in education and psychology, fluency in Spanish and Polish, and experience teaching diverse learners in real classrooms. I create a safe space where students feel supported, respected, and encouraged to take risks. Who I Teach I tutor middle school, high school, and adult learners—especially English Language Learners or students seeking support in academic English, conversation, or literacy. Whether you're a student, a working professional, or new to English, I adapt to your level and needs.
