About JUDITH
I am a licensed physician in Nigeria and a licensed Clinical Assistant in Manitoba, Canada. I have always enjoyed sharing, and that naturally extends to my profession. My teaching draws on my experience in the Emergency Department and previous years in primary care, with a particular focus on history taking and patient assessment.
History taking can provide a remarkable amount of information about a patient. This is most remarkable when assessing older patients, where the history may reveal information that is not immediately apparent from the presenting complaint.
I prefer a practical and realistic approach, using clinical scenarios and storytelling where appropriate. I also welcome questions because they help focus the teaching on what the learner actually needs and allow issues to be addressed directly.
We learn every day, and everyone makes mistakes, so learners should feel comfortable asking questions and working through areas they find difficult.
Outside clinical work, I enjoy writing and blogging. If you have a genuine love for learning and asking questions, we will probably work well together.

My most recent clinical experience is in a rural Emergency Department. Drawing on this and my prior experience, I share the practical role of history taking in patient assessment. Using case scenarios, I explore how history taking can vary depending on the patient’s presentation and how the information obtained can help guide the assessment. A typical lesson works through a clinical presentation, with discussion and questions as we progress. Lessons are suitable for medical students and other healthcare learners who want to develop their approach to history taking and patient assessment.
