About Erick
I am licensed to teach Spanish and English as a New Language, with seven years of classroom experience—four years teaching Spanish and three years teaching English learners. I am fluent in English and Spanish and have also worked as a bilingual communication specialist.
My tutoring experience began when I was a high school senior and continued at Ball State University through community-based volunteer work and private tutoring. Since then, I have provided one-on-one instruction, small-group support, tutoring within my classes, and coordinated after-school tutoring for English learners. I have worked with students ranging from elementary school through adulthood, including neurodivergent learners and students who benefit from additional structure and individualized explanations.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts with majors in Psychology and Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language, as well as a Master of Arts in Teaching in Special Education: Mild Intervention. This combination helps me identify where a student is struggling, explain language clearly, and adapt instruction to the student’s goals, pace, and individual needs.
I enjoy helping beginners build confidence, supporting students in their Spanish courses, and helping continuing and heritage learners strengthen their communication skills.

Every lesson begins with your goals. Whether you want help with a Spanish course, greater confidence in conversation, stronger grammar and vocabulary, or more practice with reading and writing, I will build instruction around what you need most.
My lessons combine clear explanations, guided practice, conversation, and authentic real-world materials. Rather than relying only on memorization, I help students understand how Spanish works and apply it in meaningful situations. I can explain concepts in either English or Spanish and adjust the pace, structure, and level of support as needed.
My background in psychology and special education allows me to break challenging material into manageable steps and provide additional structure for learners who benefit from a patient, individualized approach. Each lesson concludes with specific feedback and a clear next step.
