About Connor
Hello!
My name is Connor Shieldes. I am a fifth-year student at Southern Connecticut State University studying psychology, English: Creative Writing, and Theatre as part of a composite, Bachelor of Science program that I am fortunate enough to have crafted myself.
Author of the poetry chapbook "I Am So Happy I Am a Wake," my book is a collection of original poems that divulges readers in my first-hand experience(s) with living life beyond mental illness and depression-- as well as a series of fictitious narratives in the form of verse.

Grief is so difficult. And, within the realm of healing from grief, so many people feel stricken as a result of losing loved ones-- and from daily, seemingly-ordinary changes in life, too, that feel infinitely-overwhelming.
By approaching your loss with both a hyper-validating and hopeful lens, I also choose to incorporate creativity: a powerful source of accessing emotions in a constructive, healthy way.
From learning piano or acting, to creative writing and art lessons, I want only for the healing and autonomy of my students. Amidst this complex, often-incredibly-challenging life, I direct my focus-- and I devote my life-- to intimacy with the sense of self, and with what the self can create.
My lessons are applicable to anyone and everyone, and lessons are tailored to the individual!
