About Harrison
My name is Harrison Shaw.
My main incentive to begin tutoring is helping others succeed. I am driven by the desire to make a positive impact on the lives of my students. The fulfilment in helping others overcome challenges and achieve their academic goals whilst witnessing a student's growth and success can be incredibly rewarding.
I have deep passion for my subjects. Sharing my knowledge and insights with others, sparking curiosity and fostering a deeper understanding of subject matter is extremely rewarding.
The opportunity to influence a student's educational journey and even their future career path is another motivating factor.
Tutoring allows for more personalised interactions than a traditional classroom setting. Building strong relationships with my students, getting to know them on an individual level and tailoring their teaching methods accordingly is a recipe for success.

My approach to tutoring is based on personalised and interactive learning. I adapt my teaching style to the needs and preferences of each individual student, aiming to provide a tailored and effective learning experience. Here's how I generally structure my tutoring sessions:
Assessment and Goal Setting: In the beginning, I assess the student's current knowledge and understanding of the subject. I also discuss their learning goals and objectives, whether it's improving specific skills, understanding certain concepts, or preparing for exams.
Customised Curriculum: Based on the assessment and goals, I create a customised curriculum for the student. This curriculum may include explanations of concepts, practice exercises, examples, and additional resources like videos or articles to deepen understanding.
Explanation and Engagement: I explain concepts in a clear and concise manner, breaking down complex ideas into simpler parts. I provide real-world examples to help students relate to the material. During this phase, I encourage students to ask questions and clarify doubts.
Interactive Learning: I believe in active learning, so I involve students in the learning process. This might involve asking questions, discussing scenarios, and encouraging students to solve problems step by step. I may also present hypothetical situations to apply the concepts learned.
Practice and Feedback: Practice is crucial for mastering any subject. I provide a range of practice problems and exercises to reinforce learning. After the student attempts them, I offer constructive feedback to highlight strengths and areas that need improvement.
