About Marissa
I have had many jobs where the methods of reading analysis and writing were crucial to success, chiefly my work as a line editor for novelists. While in the classroom, I am not shy about my passions and openly share my enthusiasm with my students. My philosophy is that strong reading and writing skills--that is, confidence in your own voice--provides immeasurable power. This unyielding belief allows me the patience, empathy and drive to teach a student until they are confident.

My lessons place the learner in the center with an emphasis not only on understanding literary methods and devices but using them effectively. I use traditional lecture,visual and auditory supplements to bolster understanding as well as lots of individual practice to ensure students are confident in their reading and writing.
