About Ingrid
Hi, I'm Ingrid, a high school English and Humanities teacher and tutor with a PhD in French literature from the University of Southern California! As part of my doctoral program, I spent a year in France teaching university-level conversational English at the Sorbonne and tutoring novice to advanced level English language learners. After earning my PhD, I began teaching and tutoring 9th-12th grade English, AP English Literature & Composition, 9th-grade Humanities. I’ve worked with a wide range of students, including English language learners and those with IEPs.
What I Offer:
Academic Writing
Assistance with school essays, research papers, and other written assignments. I provide detailed feedback, and help students strengthen their organization, clarity, argumentation, and revision skills.
College Essays
From brainstorming ideas to polishing final drafts, I help students craft compelling, authentic essays that showcase their individual voices and meet college admissions expectations.
SAT Prep
Targeted strategies for reading, writing, and grammar. I help students build skills, manage time, and approach the test with clarity and confidence.

As an English tutor, I prioritize two things: designing sessions around students' individual learning needs and helping them develop greater confidence in their reading, critical thinking, and writing skills. I tailor my instruction to the areas where students need the most support, using targeted practice and revision to help them strengthen specific skills. For students who struggle with organizing their ideas or managing longer assignments, I break tasks into manageable steps and provide guidance throughout the planning and writing process.
I also recognize that students have different preferences when it comes to the structure of their tutoring sessions. Some benefit from developing a detailed plan together, establishing goals, and checking in regularly on their progress. Others prefer a more flexible approach, bringing questions, assignments, or readings to each session based on what they need help with that day. In either case, my goal is to provide the individualized support students need to become more confident and independent learners.
