About JAKE
I have studied music for years; twenty two, to be more or less exact, and I have taught the guitar to a variety of students between the ages of 10 and 60! Patience is my strong point, and with patience and time, anything is possible! I enjoy playing a plethora of genres from yacht rock, to classical, to heavy metal and I never tire of new sounds. I'm self taught, and because of this I know the endeavour inside and out having ventured down many paths to find the ones that work. I also have a keen interest in music technology, and carry an Extended National Diploma in the subject, so if you would like to look at the electrical side of things, I can also help in that department!

With a focus on practical competence, we will begin by studying how to get your fingers into the right places, at the right times, learning simple chords and the beginnings of scales. Moving onward we can learn some more complex chords and scales with exercises for you to practise in your own time. I will explain the commonalities of all modern western music, and their differences, through easy to understand terminology, as we discover the vast array of sounds you can achieve on the instrument alone! Moving beyond this we can delve into the relationships between notes and harmonies, providing a contextual understanding for how different notes work with, and against, one another, in order to convey a variety of stories. Plenty of cheat codes for beginners and advanced guitar players alike!
