My commitment: I NEVER move forward with a topic without ensuring that you feel confident about it and that you understand it. I ALWAYS make sure you CAN ASK any doubts you have at anytime. Asking those questions make insecurities disappear during your exams.
My teaching method aims to keep it as interactive as possible. I don't want to bore you with long periods of only talking. I try to ask your thoughts on certain aspects of the subject and maintain it as easygoing as possible. I also like to share my tricks to memorise the bits that need memorising, but mainly it is all about understanding the basics. Exercises are always good to test how well we're doing.
I like to write on paper. At the end of the day, your exams are still done this way. It also enhances your memory better than with electronic resources (this doesn't mean that we won't use supporting slides/images).
I base my classes on personal experience. I have been a student long enough (still a PhD student) to know that you need to spend your time learnign and revising in the most effective way. So no time to waste. I will ask you a list of detailed topics, and for each topic we will have to tick a list of basics that we must ensure you understand. From then on we will go to more specific things or more complicated examples.
I am a pharmaceutical chemist (BSc) who worked in the biopharmaceutical sector before starting an MSc in Pharmaceutical Technology, followed by a PhD in Pharmaceutical Science. I have been tutoring chemistry and biology since 2011 when I was finishing uni, mainly helping high school students prepare for university. I have also taught secondary students. Since then I have been engaged in theoretical background teaching and research skills, going from cellular biology, to metabolic routes, physiology, life science topics, chemistry, etc.
More recently, I have taught BSc and MSc students more specific areas like: Immunology, Infection and Pharmaceutical Microbiology; Pharmacokinetics and in vitro microsomal metabolism; Cardiovascular Physiology; Respiratory Physiology; Food Protein content.
Let me know what topics you need to strengthen and I'll happily help you :)
