I am willing to adjust my methods based on the student and what components they need the most support in. As the best way to improve the skill is to practise the skill itself, within my lessons, I will guide the student through Bond book and past paper questions, giving them specific things to look for that will aid them in solving the more problems and techniques that will help them answer questions more quickly.
Competition for grammar school places can be fierce, and to have the best chance possible of securing one, you may need to not only pass but do so with the highest 11+ score possible. Having passed with 417/423 marks and gained all 9s at GCSE, I am equipped to help you through the process and hopefully set you on the way to your first choice school.
I am an A Level student who gained 11 grade 9s at GCSE. I have experience in peer mentoring and tutoring from my previous school and want to help as many GCSE or primary school students as I can with the skills and knowledge I have gained from this experience and from my GCSE courses.
I'm a firm believer that no matter what qualifications a tutor has, if they aren't approachable or respectful towards their students, the student's progress will be limited. I'm a 16-year old student myself, and I did my GCSEs last year - I know exactly how stressful and overwhelming it can be for anyone, and the last thing I want to do is contribute to that stress. I can guarantee that I will always be accommodating and go at a pace that suits both myself and the student, and make sure the student feels comfortable enough to ask me questions or tell me to explain something again. When it comes to tutoring, half of it comes down to learning; the other half comes down to feeling comfortable and enjoying yourself enough to learn.
I am always willing to invest time into a skill or task to improve; aside from my studies, I also dedicate time to cross country, football and music. I recently gained a Grade 7 distinction certificate in violin, and will start to work towards my Grade 8 in the coming year. In the past, I have represented my local football team and school football/cross country teams, notably coming third in a Kent Schools cross country competition and being part of the team that won the KGLFL football league in 2017.
I prioritise catering to my students and adapting my teaching style depending on who I am working with. We are all different types of learners who see things in different ways, and I am willing to accommodate for this and make sure I always explain myself clearly and coherently in a way that suits the student. I used clear, efficient revision techniques which contributed to my GCSE grades, and will be willing to impart these onto my student to help them remember the vast amounts of content.
With competition for secondary school and sixth forms fierce as ever, it is important that students reach their maximum potential so they can gain their place. I promise to always try my utmost to aid my students in this.
