I have a BA Hons in Fine Art, PGCE in Art & Design and some years as a practising artist. As a tutor I build good rapport with students, stimulate them, am thorough, emphasise their strengths and address their weaknesses.

Trained Artist and Teacher gives lessons in observational drawing and handwriting to adults and children, focusing on technique plus expression, to beginner and intermediate level. Through demonstration, explanation and questioning I teach you how to really look at the subject matter, how to compose pictures and use different materials in an expressive way. By showing examples, allowing time for practice and providing feedback I help students develop a personal style. Grounded in italic writing at Primary school and having 8 years' experience as a Note-Taker for university students I am also keen to pass on the craft of handwriting to all ages.

Perfect! Helen is a great artist and a fantastic teacher. She is very friendly and patient in teaching. She explains everything clearly and has always provided helpful feedback on my homework. The life drawing session she introduced me has undoubtedly boosted my understanding and drawing techniques. I have developed my observational skills after having lessons with her for months, and I will absolutely cherish those memories. I can keep it up for my future art career.
- Kelvin is an excellent student and a joy to teach. He is quick to learn, readily takes on board new aspects of the drawing process and therefore makes very good progress. In spite of not having had any formal teaching in drawing before he began with me, he has braved a life drawing class which we have been going to together.Helen's response :
Perfect! My six year old daughter absolutely enjoys Helen's lessons and has made great progress already. Helen lets my daughter decide which to draw next week and then plans the lesson well experimenting different drawing tools. She gives enough instructions but she also makes sure my daughter finish her drawing independently with own expression and imagination. I'm very looking forward to seeing how my daughter progressing with Helen in the long run and highly recommend Helen without any hesitation.
