About Maria
- What kind of experience do you have?
Having recently retired as Head of Languages at a school in South London, where I taught for twenty years, I am now part of a languages primary project and also tutor from home during weekday evenings. I have lived and worked in Germany, France and Spain. My aim is to enthuse students during their study of French, German and Spain, all for which I have a great passion.
I have prepared students for GCSE and A-level exams using the Edexcel and AQA specifications.

I am a French, German and Spanish teacher, specialising in secondary education, with thirty years of experience.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach French, German and Spanish.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I graduated from The University of Leeds with a degree in Languages and completed my Postgraduate Certificate in Education shortly after.
- How much do you charge?
I charge £25 per hour to all students up to GCSE level. I charge £30 per hour to A-level students.
- Where do you teach?
I currently only provide lessons at my house.
- When are you available?
I am available during weekday evenings and at weekends.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach from ages 5 to 18. I currently provide private tuition to students of a range of levels, particularly to those preparing for their GCSE and A-level exams.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I mostly prepare students for GCSE exams but teach and have taught numerous A-level students of French and German. I enjoy teaching the A-level course given the range of cultural themes on the specification.
