About Olivia
I have performed professionally in a mariachi band for years, and that ensemble, celebratory tradition shapes almost everything about how I teach guitar today. Nine years into teaching now, I've worked with about one hundred seventy-five students, many of them genuinely drawn to traditional Mexican music and culture specifically. My performance background gives me genuine, lived insight into mariachi's rhythmic energy and cultural richness, insight that purely academic guitar teachers simply cannot offer their students. I work particularly well with students genuinely interested in traditional Mexican music, not just generic guitar technique disconnected from any cultural tradition. My teaching style is energetic and tradition-focused, reflecting genuine performance experience, though I remain patient with students building foundational technique before tackling advanced repertoire.
