About Irene
Hi, I’m Dr Martin, a fully qualified GTCS-registered Biology teacher and marine scientist with a PhD in Aquaculture, and experience teaching across Scottish secondary schools and at university level.
My academic background includes doctoral research in marine science, publication in peer-reviewed journals, and supervising students at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Alongside this, I have taught Biology and Science across National 4/5, Higher, Advanced Higher, and BGE, giving me a strong understanding of both curriculum requirements and student challenges.
I’m passionate about making Biology accessible and meaningful, and I value clarity, patience, and honesty in education. I’m not a miracle worker—but I believe that with the right guidance, consistency, and encouragement, students can make real progress and gain confidence in their abilities.
If you’re looking for an experienced educator with a strong scientific background and a supportive approach, I’d be happy to work with you.

I offer supportive, student-centred Biology tutoring designed to help you understand the subject, build confidence, and make steady progress. I’m a fully qualified Biology teacher with a PhD and experience teaching National 4/5, BGE, and higher-level science, and I focus on explaining concepts clearly and at a pace that works for you.
I’m not a miracle worker—but with commitment, guidance, and the right strategies, I can help you improve your understanding, feel more in control of your learning, and work towards your goals. Lessons are tailored to your needs, whether you’re catching up, preparing for exams, or aiming to boost your grades.
My sessions are calm, positive, and practical. Questions are always encouraged, mistakes are part of learning, and the focus is on progress, not pressure. I’ll guide you, support you, and help you develop the skills you need to succeed.
