About Jack
I’ve been DJing on vinyl for over a decade and I ran my own night called MoodFix: a vinyl-focused party that ran for five years.
As both promoter and resident DJ, I curated nights that celebrated eclectic sounds, spanning disco, house, techno, garage, world music, and beyond.
Through MoodFix and my own sets, I’ve had the privilege of sharing the decks with some of the UK’s most respected underground DJs, including the legendary Gilles Peterson—a BBC Radio 6 Music broadcaster, Worldwide FM founder, and tastemaker who has been instrumental in championing new artists and global sounds for decades.
Now based in Clapton, London, I continue to DJ regularly across the city, bringing the same energy and vinyl passion to clubs, bars, and community spaces.
My experience both behind the decks and behind the scenes as a promoter means I understand not only the technical side of DJing, but also the art of reading a crowd and building a musical journey.
Aside from music, I'm a very friendly, patient and calm person who will make your lesson feel welcoming and fun :)

My lessons are tailored for both complete beginners who’ve never touched a set of decks, and DJs who want to move from controllers or CDJs to the world of vinyl.
Depending on your level, we’ll cover:
- Fundamentals of DJing (only if required): beat-matching, phrasing, track selection
- Understanding turntables using industry-standard Technics 1210s
- Cueing and mixing by ear without relying on sync buttons
- Handling vinyl properly: care, setup, and maintenance
- Using a mixer effectively: EQs, gain structure, crossfader techniques
- Building confidence in transitions: smooth blends, creative mixing styles
- Developing your own style and crafting unique sets
- Exploring advanced techniques: backspins, doubles, and vinyl-only tricks
Set Up:
You'll be using my industry standard Technics 1210's and Allen & Heath XONE 42 mixer. I have a range of vinyl for you to use, from disco through to house, techno and garage. Bring your own as well and we can focus on mixing that!
Whether you want to master the foundations or refine your skills on turntables, my aim is to give you the confidence to step behind the decks and express yourself through music.
