My teaching method is first understanding what the student is finding difficulties in . Step by step I make them pay close attention to where they are having trouble with and simplify the problem with a simple approach. If the student is stuck on a specific topic I ask questions in order to go around the question and allowing the student to brainstorm different options and ideas to answer the question. I am always patient with students and my previous classmates I never make them feel uncomfortable and I am always humble.
I am a Business Masters graduate, I started helping out my classmates with their work and then it became a hobby to give private lessons to students I knew from my previous school. I enjoyed it a lot as you benefit from passing on your knowledge to students and see how they do much better from taking my advice. The results were great and now I am interested in taking the next level for a possible career choice.
Since my family were forced to leave Iraq in 1995 I inherited my father’s drive to succeed in life. My determination and commitment to my education and career is evident in my prior roles at the District Council and recently graduated in a Masters degree in International business and management at the university of Westminster. I am an ambitious and highly motivated individual and graduated in BA Management specialising in Finance and Marketing. I have five years of working experience gaining practical knowledge and skills within retail, sales/marketing, Admin, Economic development and chauffeuring. I am highly driven to achieve and exceed expectations, a fast learner eager to continue professional development to become a stronger candidate, whilst capitalising and broadening best practices.
Blaby District Council (April 2015 – April 2016)
Planning Policy and Economic Development Officer
Blaby District Council is a local government district in Leicestershire County covering 23 civil parish councils of the Blaby district. The council’s key achievements also known as the Local Plan (Core Strategy) is intended to set out the vision, objectives, strategy and core policies for the Spatial Planning of the District up to 2029.
As a economic development officer (EDO) I was responsible for attracting business organisations to invest in the local economy via leasing or purchasing business commercial properties and organising business events such as business breakfast at hotels and conference halls to allow businesses in the local area to interact with each other as well as new businesses outside the Blaby area. The main goal here was to raise the local economy as best as we could, which indeed was being achieved in steady progression. Also being involved in organising a job fairs event at the main shopping centre, organising a number of businesses with stalls looking for potential candidates to join their organisation.
This role was indeed a foundation ground to progress in my career ladder, helping me to understand the day to day operations in a professional business environment, giving me the experiences of networking with fundamental people who were part of the committee, learning to co-ordinate and organise businesses within the area , helping me understand the operations of economics and indeed having a deeper understanding of my degree as it was connected with the role.
