About Tom
I am currently based in Montreal, having recently completed my masters degree in Classics at McGill University. I work as a researcher on Greek and Latin literature and a performer of Homeric poetry.
In the interests of sanity I make sure to find time between the ancient texts for other hobbies, like film photography and skateboarding.
My previous homes include Frankfurt, Germany and St. Andrews, Scotland. I miss the sea every day.

I know from experience that learning languages (especially dead ones!) can be stressful. But it doesn’t have to be! My priority when I teach is to create a relaxed and collaborative environment so that we can both have a good time. I’m sure that’s the best way to learn.
I recognise that every student will arrive with a different set of needs and goals. We’ll begin by discussing what you want, and plot our course together from there. We might decide to focus on a particular skill, like close reading. Or perhaps we’ll just keep revising those fundamentals - grammar and basic vocabulary - to provide the strongest foundation possible. Or maybe you just need someone to look through your homework or provide feedback on papers. I’m open to anything!
I have experience teaching both teenagers and first and second year undergraduates. I offer lessons on Zoom; the length of our sessions and frequency is up to you.
