About Dom
Hi!
My name is Dom and I've been tutoring a variety of subjects as my main source of income since I graduated from QASMT in 2020.
Since then, I’ve completed a Bachelor's & Honors degree in Advanced Science, specializing in computational Astrophysics at QUT. I’m now starting my Masters at UQ, also in physics.
I love science communication/education, and I’ve had loads of experience doing it! I’ve been hired by both QUT and UQ to tutor in various capacities, so I’m good enough for the universities. You might have seen me come to your school to give workshops on math, chemistry or electromagnetism.
I spend an embarrassing amount of my time reading recreationally.
Mostly fiction, but I also love philosophy! Metaphysics is what got me into physics in the first place, and my teaching style reflects that.
I charge $90 for the first hour, and $70/hour thereafter. I'm flexible for lessons that are longer, or otherwise more convenient.

I’ve tutored dozens of students in both QCAA and IB subjects, and have an extremely thorough understanding of the STEM curriculum. I’ve also taught Econ, language & literature, and the IB inner core subjects. I have experience teaching from Grade 6 and above, but my expertise is in lifting grades as much as possible for final-year exams. I’m also experienced in mentoring neurodiverse students.
I love a good analogy, and getting students excited about their studies. STEM can be so much fun, if you let it!
I'm very flexible with specifics, and am experienced in all forms of tutoring, including group sessions.

Dom tutored me in high school with maths and science and I honestly couldn't recommend the lessons enough. The way everything was explained made such a difference for me. Using whiteboards to work through questions really helped because I'm a visual learner, and breaking everything down step by step made it so much easier to understand. I never felt stupid for asking questions, and I always left lessons feeling more confident!
Dom isn't just a great teacher but is also genuinely passionate about teaching and gets excited to help you learn whatever you're interested in. That made the lessons way more enjoyable and kept me motivated. It's honestly hard to find a tutor who has both amazing teaching skills and that much passion for helping students.
I would definitely recommend Dom to anyone looking for a tutor! :)
