About Henry
I am a Masters student studying politics at the London School of Economics. Last year, I graduated with a first class degree in International Relations from the University of St Andrews. While attending St Andrews, I informally worked as a tutor in essay writing and political theory at the undergraduate level. Before that, I tutored lower level mathematics and proofreading at the high school and lower school levels. I have extensive experience with the Advanced Placement program used in the US school system as well .

I approach instruction (regarding both essay writing and academic theory) in a bespoke manner which realizes that specific learning barriers are unique for each student.
For example, younger writers may have trouble with syntax and punctuation--for these students I like to undergo traditional exercises such as those found in Strunk and White's timeless style manual.
On the other hand, an undergraduate student with a perfectly functioning writing style may only need help with a particularly challenging concept. If that concept is particularly intangible theory, I like to offer concrete examples. In classic cases, such as confusion with post-structuralism or Foucauldian analysis, I would suggest secondary reading which may allow the student to have a clarificatory conversation with me on the next session.
Ultimately, my teaching methods are focused on resolving a students' immediate frustrations through direct teaching, and further, providing the student resources that will engender intellectual curiosity and personal problem solving in the long run.
