About Aishwarya
I am currently pursuing a Master’s in Strategic Studies at Nanyang Technological University, and I hold an undergraduate degree in International Relations. My academic background has deeply shaped my love for reading, writing, and critical analysis, which are skills that naturally translated into my passion for teaching English and English Literature.
I initially began tutoring simply to explore teaching and gain experience, but it quickly became something I genuinely love. Helping students grow in confidence, improve their writing, and engage thoughtfully with texts has been incredibly rewarding.
Outside of teaching, I am an avid reader of anything and everything related to history and science fiction. To live is to read!

My approach to tutoring is structured, student-centred, and tailored to individual learning styles. I believe strong foundations in reading, writing, and critical thinking are essential for success in English and English Literature. I focus on building both technical skills (grammar, structure, textual analysis) and confidence in expression.
In my lessons, I combine close reading exercises, guided discussion, essay planning frameworks, and timed practice where appropriate (especially for exam preparation such as IB). I break down complex literary concepts into clear, manageable steps and teach students how to think analytically rather than memorise content. For younger students, I incorporate interactive activities and structured writing guidance to strengthen comprehension and creativity. The goal is to cater my lessons to my students and their needs in order to watch them thrive.
A typical lesson lasts 60 to 90 minutes. Lessons usually include:
- Initial review of previous work and feedback
- Skill-focused teaching segment (e.g., essay structure, analysis techniques)
- Guided practice
- Independent practice or exam-style questions
- Clear action points for improvement
My lessons are suitable for-
- Primary school students building foundational English skills
- Secondary school students (including IB) preparing for examinations
- Students who want to improve essay writing, textual analysis, and academic writing
My primary aim is to create a supportive, enjoyable and motivating environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing independent thinking skills.
