About Katy
I am an Environmental Sciences masters student. I graduated in July from the University of Leeds where I studied business management. I have experience in helping key stage 2 with English language and reading. It was something I thoroughly enjoyed and I would love to be able to continue working in a way where I can help others make progress in their English skills as I found it to be so rewarding.

Previously my lessons were individual and I thought it best to be student driven. I would ask what it was the kids wanted to read about, this meant they were interested and engaged in the subject, this made times when the kids were struggling with spelling and grammar etc much easier. When struggling with grammar I would keep the kids calm by saying its okay lets put down the book and we would write down the word/sentence and focus on tackling that issue. I found it helpful to contextualise the problem differently using a different subject matter for example to help the child understand.
