About America Margarita
I am a Magna Cum Laude Bryn Mawr College graduate with a B.A. in Honors Mathematics and Economics. I am also a NYC Public Library Certified Teacher in Reading for grades Pre-K to 2nd grade. I have been tutoring since I was a sophomore in high school and continue to do so now.
I am a huge believer that anyone can learn economics or any subject they are struggling with. Usually what happens is we have an awful experience with *subject* or the teacher and from that day on we HATE that subject. However, sometimes we are lucky enough to find a teacher who completely changes our feelings towards *subject*. I have been on the end of both scenarios and I am now a full-time tutor because I love to pass on my knowledge but more importantly, I love to heal the relationship students have with subjects they “hate”.

I love getting to know students before we start working together. Typically we would set up a meeting where we would chat, and say what we like to do for fun, what has been a good learning experience, what is your preferred learning style, and how can we make each of our jobs easier. I find that this allows me to build rapport with my students so that our meetings have a safe environment and good ambiance. Before our next meeting, I ask that students send me their class notes, homework, or other material they may need help with so that I can prepare appropriately. I understand that it is sometimes hard to keep track of everything so I also don't mind going into a meeting without knowing what we will be working on. We will typically work a minimum of 1 hour and up to as many hours the students wish to do so. Meetings can be daily, weekly, biweekly, or however many times as desired.

Rates from $30-$50 per hour. $30 covers one hour sessions where I help students with their homework as well as understanding class material/notes. $40 covers everything included in $30 plus weekly check-ins, and one weekly personalized lesson on a topic of students choice. Lastly, $50 covers everything included in $40+$30 plus student access to my phone number where I answer any questions, comments, concerns 24/7, two (instead of one) weekly personalized lesson on a topic of students choice, and per unit mock quiz. I understand that each family needs specific needs and I am always open to discuss further so we can achieve you and your child’s goals! I look forward to hearing from you!
