About Hannah
I am currently working as a computer engineer for RELX. I have tutored younger students while doing my A levels and also tutored my younger brother for his GCSE's which he is now confident with. I enjoy mathematics greatly and hope to share this enthusiasm with my students.

My teaching method is to understand the students' difficulties and where they lack confidence. I hope to encourage them to be confident in themselves so they are prepared to tackle the most difficult of questions. If they have a certain curriculum for their school, I will look through this and choose exercises to practice, I can also help with homework and preparation for examinations.
I will tailor my teaching to each student and choose the best path for them, for example, I would like to do a test with them to determine which type of learner they are, visual, auditory, reading/writing or kinesthetic. Each student is different and I hope to cater to their specific needs.
When going through the lessons work I encourage the student to brainstorm how they would tackle the question at hand. Often students over complicate the question and this causes them to be panicked and stressed which then clouds the brain. I hope to change this way of thinking so that the student does not lose their confidence as I understand mathematics can be a frustrating subject. This then opens them up to trying and gives more room for improvement.
I hope to have the same effect on my students that my GCSE mathematics teacher had on me. I went from a C grade GCSE student in my January mocks to achieving a 2:1 in my mathematics degree at the University of Southampton. I know it is possible for any student to greatly improve their academic performance with the right teaching.
