About Abigail
I graduated in mathematics but I’m so much more than this!
In my life I’ve trained in a variety of disciplines, hobbies and vocations and have never stopped learning. This quality in itself helps me to inject energy and passion in to others.
In all the roles I’ve held, teaching, training, instructing, mentoring, coaching and managing have been my favourite part. I have a natural flair for tutoring, along with years of experience to supplement it. Now I’ve started a family, I’ve slowed down some of my interests and no longer teach in a professional (military) setting. I also no longer line-manage or train others in the workplace. Teaching you is my way of maintaining that passion and not wasting my talent in that area.

Up until recently I was teaching signalling, weapons and soldiering in the British Army to teenage and adult soldiers. I’m able to command attention and get across complex ideas in plain terms. I quickly build rapport with my students and absolutely love meeting new people. I warm quickly to people and am adaptable in my approach. Given the need to teach in a variety of settings, I’ve used many different techniques such as EDIP, teach-back, marketplace and so on. I’m also trained and have experience in teaching students with learning differences.
Having learnt mathematics at school, college, university and in the professional workplace, I know what good and bad tuition looks like.
With a daughter myself, I have experience of talking with children and understanding how they communicate. I use this to choose a teaching method.
I am able to select a broad range of leadership styles, to draw the best out of the student. If a direct/authoritative style is effective I’ve much experience in this. However, I’ve also trained in coaching and mentoring and can coach the student to their own success.
