About Trystan
I have been tutoring GCSE mathematics students for one year. The class was about 30 students and while I can’t know the results of that specific class, 79% of that year achieved grade 4 or above. I also have experience teaching classes of air cadets for about 2 years, where I gained most of my teaching/tutoring skills. I had to deal with a wide range of capabilities so I am adept at explaining concepts in different ways to ensure everyone can understand. I also had to deal with varying levels of interest, so I ensure I make lessons as engaging as possible. These ranged between classes of 4 to 16, and I have now taught about 30 different cadets. My students receive a BTEC Level 2 in Aviation Studies, which is equivalent to a GCSE at the end of their studies.

Hi, my name is Trystan and I am currently an Actuarial Science student at Kent University, which basically means a whole lot of mathematics/statistics. I achieved an A* in A level mathematics and an A in Further mathematics, with a 9 in GCSE Maths. I can give lessons to individuals or groups, or one-to-one tuition. I can cover the GCSE and A-level Mathematics or Further mathematics syllabuses. I always start my lessons by putting the topic into context when possible, explaining why the mathematics is useful outside of just your exams. The basic lesson structure from there would be; I explain a new concept, or an old one in a new way, going through an example step by step, making sure you understand at every point. Then I get you to walk me through a similar problem, correcting any mistakes. Then you tackle a set of questions to affirm said concept. I can teach using PowerPoint, whiteboard or pen and paper, depending on what is suitable for the number of students and the equipment available. I will include practice elements and games wherever possible to ensure the learning is both productive and enjoyable. I am very tolerant and patient when teaching, and I try to be engaging and humorous.
