I personally am a kinesthetic learner, so my usual teaching method is using real life situations or applications, but depending on the learner can adapt per need.
e.g. basic maths skills for division, using a group of physical items (i.e a pack of biscuits) to make into divisible piles to show a physical representation of the problem.
I am a recently qualified Engineer, have just finished my HND in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering.
I have worked since leaving secondary school as a mechanical engineer, and have used the relevant maths, sciences and engineering on a regular basis applying it to everyday work life.
I have taught family friends for a number of years, and they have produced good results.
I have recently qualified in Mechanical Engineering at HND level.
I am currently working as a Mechanical Engineer. But am looking to help tutor in maths/sciences for some extra income.
I have been working on and around CNC and Manual machines, mostly CNC Lathes, for the last 7 years, including a 3 year apprenticeship at VG Scienta, which I started as soon as finishing secondary school.
I completed an Advanced Apprenticeship with Sigta through the company "VG SCIENTA", which included the PEO level 2 and BTEC Level 3 course at SCCH college course. Then spent the final year of the apprenticeship working full time.
Recently I have completed the HND Mechanical Engineering (lvl 5) at SCCH, final grade is yet to be given.
As an apprentice, trainee, machine operator, and shop floor worker, I have worked in multiple departments in factories to gain experience and understanding, predominantly in the machine shop, but some basic training in other areas, such as instrument cleaning, stores & dispatch, relevant office work and quality control.
Most of the apprenticeship was spent working on an around CNC Lathes, as these were the main NVQ Units I was given to complete.
And since finishing my apprenticeship, was put straight to training the new employees and apprentices. Giving me tutoring experience in a relevant field.
In my spare time, my hobbies include; Playing bass guitar in a Hastings based rock band "Liquid Chaos" playing covers and writing originals.
Riding my motorbike, part of a local Bike Club "Pheasant Pluckers".
I am a DBS checked Scout Leader at 9th Bexhill Scout Group, have been there as a leader since November 2013.
