About Abdullah

I taught over 150+ diverse students from Highbury Grove, St Mary Magdalene, Central Foundation Boys, Beacon High, Arts and Media School, Cardinal Pole and Oaklands School. I was an assistant teacher at MW School, having led projects with other schools to better understand needs of students, and measuring the efficacy of school curricula. I have a proven track record and statistical evidence of at least one to two grade improvements in all levels of Maths. I supported 30+ students for successful admission to Mossbourne Community, Clapton Girls, Stoke Newington School and Central Foundation. Following university, I worked for a number of terms in an Enfield tutoring centre as a maths teacher. I worked with small groups of students including year 10 and 11 GCSE students, KS3 students and year 12s who were resitting their GCSEs. In my private work, I have been working with students studying KS1, KS2, KS3, GCSE/IGCSE (Years 1-11 plus year 12 resits), covering all the main exam boards (AQA, Edexcel, OCR, WJEC). I have now taught for over 2000 hours, ranging from private tutees, to summer holiday classes and intensive courses. The reason teaching is so important for me is because it is a continual learning process for both the teacher and the student. I believe passionately in the huge value of teaching, taking great satisfaction in seeing my students achieve their full potential. I am up to date with the syllabus and curricula of the subject I teach. I have five full academic years’ experience as a maths tutor. My role addresses the pitfalls of a mainstream education by truly individualising it, and is perfected through thousands of hours of experience of striving to achieve precisely that with a vast array of students of differing abilities and needs. I have often played the role of the advisor throughout my academic career, helping both my peers and my students in avoiding the pitfalls associated with difficult ideas, and am able to explain things from different angles. I manage a large client book of up to sixty students at any one time, and have a high value of returning customers, attracting many personal recommendations. As one to one provision in a single subject is my sole business interest, the experience I have in delivering effective tutorials in mathematics is vast, for over 10 different qualifications and entrance exams. Seeing my students' capabilities and confidence flourish has defined my purpose for many years, and I hope many more to come.

The way I teach depends on what the individual student needs. I make the lessons engaging and encourage the student to ask questions. I always make sure the student is engaged and passionate about the subject. I teach students of all abilities, and have a patient and friendly approach. I establish rapport quickly and the students feel comfortable and at ease with me. I have an organised approach and treat each child with the patience they deserve. I always aim to pass on my enthusiasm of the subject to my students. I assess the level of understanding of the student, and use a technique which is appropriate for them. I avoid wasting time teaching the student what they are already good at. My lessons are well detailed, and designed to give the student as much knowledge as possible. I teach them all the techniques required to solve mathematical questions. I also focus heavily on exam techniques and terminology. Before going through exam questions, I ensure students have a good grasp of the theory, definitions and formulae. The main priority is to maximise their performance in exams, and to help them cultivate a deep understanding of the subject. I will give them a summative test once per term.
