About Jack
Beyond maths, I also enjoyed studying Spanish at school and languages in general. I learnt Italian at home and I still practise the languages in my free time. I adore travelling, especially by train. I'm a huge rail enthusiast to the point where I have been on every rail line in Great Britain. I keep the travel always going by living on a boat and frequently going on hiking and cycling trips. My houseboat has also got me involved in a lot of DIY projects, from plumbing to rust treatment.

I am a new tutor with the hope to combine my knowledge of and love for maths and experience working with children to help students struggling with maths up to GCSE. My first session will be a free 15 minute call to establish why you would like a tutor and which areas you need help with. For those reluctant about the subject, I will make it my mission to change their frame of mind. I will also ask more general questions about what you like about school and your hobbies to see if I can orient the lessons around those. Once we get going, lessons will be 30 minutes or 1 hour. Unless only one or 2 topics need heavy focus, I will change the topic focused on each week so that it sort of simulates an exam paper, where all the topics will be jumbled. I believe both rote memory of times tables and quick mental maths are essential for getting maths questions done quickly so I will factor these into lessons as a paramount skill to have. I will also focus on doing clear, neat, step by step workings as this will guarantee you getting the extra marks for showing workings even if you get the answer wrong. I got an A* in GCSE maths and an A at A-level of which both I didn't do that long ago so I still retain fond memories and will be ready to provide A-level hints and exam technique/mindset help within my sessions. My time studying Civil Engineering at university and working in the engineering sector has also kept my mind endlessly in a mathematical and systematising environment.

Jack is knowledgeable and conscientious, and always ready to help. He has undertaken many voluntary positions over the last ten years, most notably with the Scouts, for whom he has been a volunteer leader for many years, having joined the movement at just 5 years old.
Jack is always keen to share his knowledge with others and still has a thirst for learning himself.Jack is very hard working guy, who works well with young people adapting his teaching style for individual needs. He is charismatic and has a great teaching style.
I have had the pleasure of knowing Jack for many years and it has always been a joy to be in his company.
He has always worked hard at whatever he puts his mind to, from his apprenticeship to helping out at his local scouts group.
And over the years he has proved to be very dedicated in all aspects and projects he has undertaken in his life, from his love of Languages, Maths and trains, to his running.
I'm sure he will be a very dedicated teacher as wellView more recommendations
