About Siena
Hi! My name is Siena and I am a second-year student in Anatomy and Cell Biology at McGill University. I have always had a passion for science and education, and I love helping others make sense of difficult concepts. I have one year of formal tutoring experience as a CEGEP peer tutor at Dawson College, but for years before that, I always enjoyed being able to help my siblings and friends with their homework throughout elementary and high school. I am committed to student success and making learning fun — I can’t wait to get started!

As a tutor, I tailor my approach to each student’s needs and current level of understanding. My goal is to provide effective tools for grasping and retaining key concepts, while helping students strengthen their problem-solving skills. I also incorporate fun and interactive elements into my lessons whenever possible to make the material more engaging. Ultimately, I aim not only to help students succeed, but also to foster a deeper appreciation for math and science.
I begin each lesson by reviewing previous material to evaluate the student’s understanding before introducing new content. I explain new concepts by breaking them into manageable parts, often using images, diagrams, demonstrations or examples depending on the subject and the student’s learning style. I then reinforce the material through practice questions and active recall, in addition to providing a summary of the lesson’s content at the end of the session.
While in CEGEP, I tutored students in chemistry, biology and physics, and developed various strategies to make challenging material more accessible and engaging. Now, as a university student specializing in the biological sciences, I bring a strong academic foundation and a genuine passion for teaching.
My lessons are suited for elementary or high school students seeking help in math (up to Grade 9) or science (including Grade 11 Chemistry and Physics).
