About Maryam
Hi there!
My name is Maryam Mobashir and I am currently a student at McMaster University! I've always loved English in school, it was the one class where I could have fun expressing my thoughts and ideas. This however, wasn't always the case as I used to have trouble putting my thoughts into words, or organizing the words in my head so that I could express them. I understand how daunting approaching things like writing essays and doing presentations can seem, but they can honestly be fun once you get the hang of it! My aim is to help students build on their skills so that English becomes a course thats enjoyable, and easy!

I aim to tutor students in middle school and high school, or post-secondary students who are interested in English.
The lesson plan would vary between students of different ages, and skill level. I would treat the tutoring sessions as an extension of what is taught in the classroom by helping students approach material they learn in a different way. For students who are not in school I would treat the session like a regular English class using only my own materials.
I believe that English is best taught in an application manner, hence I would give students opportunities to practice written and oral communication over a series of "quick writes" and discussions on topics they enjoy.
In addition to this, I would help students proof-read and edit their work that I assign and give them constructive feedback to apply in school settings.
