About Martha
I’m a mechanical engineering undergraduate at Purdue University with five years of tutoring experience. I grew up in Omaha and have worked with students from elementary through high school, so I’m comfortable adapting my teaching style to fit different learning needs.
I’ve also worked in a medical clinic, which has strengthened my attention to detail and professionalism. My long-term goal is to design medical imaging equipment, and that focus on real-world applications carries into how I teach—I want students to truly understand what they’re learning, not just memorize it.
I’m reliable, patient, and committed to helping students build confidence. You can expect clear explanations, structured sessions, and a supportive environment where questions are always encouraged.

My approach to tutoring is focused on making sure students actually understand the material, not just memorize steps. I usually break concepts down into simpler parts and explain them in a way that makes sense based on what the student already knows. I also like to have students talk through their thought process so I can see where they might be getting stuck and help them fix it.
A typical lesson usually starts with going over any questions or problems they had before. Then I explain the main topic and work through a few examples step by step. After that, I have them try similar problems on their own while I guide them if needed. By the end, I try to make sure they can do it independently and feel more confident.
What sets me apart is that I’ve worked with a wide range of students, so I’m good at adjusting how I explain things depending on the person. I’m also patient and focus on building confidence, not just getting the right answer.
My lessons are for middle school to high school students, including regular, honors, and some AP-level math and science classes.
