Failure analysis of metallic components to identify the root cause of failure and failure mechanisms. Microstructure analysis and characterization by metallographic examination of various metals ranging from carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminium alloys, nickel alloys, copper alloys, titanium alloys, haste alloys to super alloys. Planning, set-up and undertaking controlled lab tests, experiments and trials. Receiving and collecting test samples, handling of samples and their preparation. Support and improve test methods and procedures according to standards, specifications and customer requirements. Recording and analysing test data. Assisting in the maintenance and calibration of lab equipment as required, including troubleshooting. Support research and development ideas from concepts, drawings and experiment plans. Manage scheduled delivery of results for projects. Undertake the training and development of others in lab testing as required.
Quantitative Energy Dispersive X-ray analysis (EDXS) on metal debris in aerospace engines to find aerospace material specifications (AMS). Complete Failure Investigation of the crashed aircrafts parts and other engineering components. Corrosion investigation work on corroded components in varies industries. Evaluation of material integrity and life prediction of high temperature components such as pressure vessels, heat exchangers etc. Preparation of investigation reports and report presentations. Preparation of quotations, liaising with clients and following-up on projects. Carrying out of presentations in workshops/seminars related to failure analysis of engineering components.
