I am happy to adapt my teaching to suit a range of students, ability levels and goals. Confidence and ability to communicate ideas are key to speaking and writing in a foreign language and scaffolded practice is essential to practicing listening and reading comprehension. I believe that a working knowledge of grammar is fundamental to language learning, but that grammar can be taught and learnt intrinsically, through techniques such as the EPI (Extensive Processing Instruction) method. I have a degree in French and German language studies and I have been teaching Modern Foreign Languages to GCSE for seven years in an Ofsted rated Good secondary school. In order to manage cognitive overload, lessons will be between 30-60 minutes (this can be agreed upon depending on your priorities and goals).
